Definition
Animation is where a series of still images are linked together as part of a timed sequence. This makes the image appear to move.
This is the same technique used when making cartoons.
Example
Toyota Yaris vs Gadget Guy – Car advert with a character who is animated and sings in the style of M&M

Narratives, Forms and Styles of Advertising

There are many different forms of TV advertising just as there are many different products on the market and people that they appeal to. Advertisers will choose different forms,  narrative structures and styles depending on the product or concept being advertised. The form is how the advert is constructed. The narrative is the way a story is told in an advert. The style is the overall look the advert has when it is made. To further understand these concepts narrative, form and style…..

Endings - are also an important part of narrative structure and warrant much analysis. They can be open, where we are left with a sense that the story is unfinished or may continue after the section of the narrative we have seen. Alternatively, they are closed and present a definite end to the story being told.
Patterns of narrative:

* Goal - orientated plot
* Search or investigation
* Journey
* Climax

Range of information: Unrestricted: The audience sees and hears everything and often they already know the ending...........Titanic, Pearl Harbour, United 93
Restricted: The audience are introduced to information and plot at the same time as the characters.
